About Me - My name is Dave Sproul and I am a wedding photographer. I have photographed over 1,000 weddings in the last 35 years. I have an unobtrusive and photojournalistic style which allows me to capture your special moments without posing you for every shot. Over the years I have tried to keep my prices affordable with no defined packages and no minimums to purchase. I pride myself in being a film photographer with a classic style.
Photojournalism - I have been to weddings where the photograper stops each member of the bridal procession as they walk down the aisle, take a picture, then let them continue down the aisle. I have also been to weddings where the photographer stops the action during the cake cutting to pose every segment (cut the cake...stop....click......feed the bride...stop...click). These two previous examples are called "Portraiture" style and these weddings are typically shot by "Old School" photographers. The new style is calle photojournalism. When a member of the bridal party walks down the aisle, I duck out of the row or pew snap a picture or two and then duck back in. During the cake cutting I pose the bride and groom for a shot with the cake prior to the DJ starting the music, then I take non-posed (candid) pictures as the cake cutting continues.
My goal is to capture candid, live action, and real life (not "posed action" that will look phony or fake). I capture the day as it unfolds around you. When you receive the proofs and look at them in the order they were shot, it is like reading a story. This is the story of the most important day of your life.
Pricing - My pricing is simple. Other photographers "sell" you the world with pictures and albums you may not want. I believe that the bride and groom should see the proofs before choosing reprints, enlargements, and albums. Other photographers have strict time limits typically about 6 or 7 hours which normally does not cover the last dance. I believe that I should be at your wedding until the levent has concluded.
My pricing is $995, and you get:
- One Professional photographer (myself)
- Up to 9 hours of my time (consecutive)
- Up to three on-site locations (Bride's house, Ceremony, Reception)
- Captured using high end medium format camera with backup on site
- A white proof album with 200-300 first quality images (4"x6")
- Album delivered within three weeks from wedding day
See your pictures (proofs) first and then chose from a large selection of studio quality Bridal and Parent albums that I can provide. I also can reproduce any image from wallet size up to 24"x36" "Portrait Quality".
